Making Google Analytics work for Buckinghamshire

Buckinghamshire County Council has a complex web estate so in order to manage and optimize digital services for their users they recognise that they need to better understand, manage and interpret their website data.

That’s why Buckinghamshire asked us to review how they use website analytics with the aim of identifying whether their current configuration was appropriate for their current and future needs.

Analytics review

To help them manage their analytics data the Satori Lab then undertook a comprehensive review into how Buckinghamshire CC uses Google Analytics. We looked at their approach to account and property structure as well as events tracking and goal conversion practice. Then reviewing their use of Siteimprove, another analytics tool, we compared how well the different tools met the criteria of the Council’s future ambitions.

Our report recommendations were followed up with training workshops and direction on how to interpret Google Analytics data and how to develop data gathering and reporting infrastructure going forward.

Alongside our training we assisted with the setting up of tooling. Helping the web and business teams transition to using a Tag Management tool allowing them to start collecting advanced events tracking and taking more control over the management of their analytics.

Colin Harris, Digital Content Officer said…

“The Satori Lab helped us establish a single approach across our multiple sites ensuring we could track an entire journey across our estate. They checked that each site was set up consistently and arranged for detailed training so that the team could continue to build on these results once they left.”
